comic con 2008

In case anyone out there is at Comic Con this year (say hi! if you see me), I put out some little trading cards at the California Browncoats booth. Be sure to stop by and pick some up! There is one for each cast member.

Can't Stop the Serenity

For those of you out in the black who aren't yet aware, Vancouver is hosting this year's "Can't Stop the Serenity" event on June 22nd, at the Norm Theatre at UBC. For anyone interested in attending, ticket information can be found at the link provided below. We hope to see lots of Browncoats in attendance! It promises to be a fun filled day, with filking, a silent auction, and a taped Q&A from Kaylee herself! There are also lots of door prizes available to be won. And who knows, there is usually always a surprise or two!

Big Damn Inside Joke

For those who don't read the Mosquito web-comic, I would advise you to have a look at Episode 8.

So apparently there are a few folk out there who are still paying attention to us! LOL

serenity day

Just posting this announcement as a reminder!

"As most of you are aware, there has been a movement to have charity screenings of "Serenity" in the 35 cities which had preview screenings on June 23rd last year. So far, there are 34+ cities in 5 countries on 3 continents in the planning or preplanning phase, although not all had screenings last year.

We in Vancouver were lucky enough to be one of the two Canadian cities involved and I know a good portion of the group who attended remembers that day: the excitement, the birthday banner for Joss, the anticipation of seeing the BDM for the first time (or second, for some of us), the connection with 200 other Browncoats and the feelings evoked by the movie.

still alive and kickin'

I know, I know, we haven't been updating that much lately! That's because progress has been slow - summertime means that people are much busier with work, social activities, and pretty much life in general.

But the good news is, we should be ready to start filming again right quick! The galley set walls are back up, and we're even able to include the infirmary this time 'round! The set just has to be redressed, which pretty much involves some painting, and the use of copious amounts of hot glue. Building a set consists of a lot of sticking stuff onto walls.

There are also some more spiffy extras in the works for ya'll, to tide you over until we actually get this first eppy in the can.

Production Diaries

Well folks, we've put up various production diaries... but no one is talking about them! We want to know what you think! Are they good, bad, mediocre - or do they suck worse than a garage sale Hoover?

So weigh in folks. Honest opinions appreciated!

Set Dismemberment

Well, we had to dismantle our lovely galley set yesterday. We ran out of time at the space we were using, so we got booted out. Next step - reassembly elsewhere!

Oh, and some lovely scavengers stole parts of the set that we had left outside to pickup in another load (despite signs saying it was not junk). So if any of you are out there in cyberspace - there is a special level of hell for you folk!

Yup, I'm a little bitter.

back to our regularly scheduled programming

Well folks, after a bit of a hiatus, it is back to business this weekend! Yay!

Due to scheduling conflicts, we have had to make a few personnel changes. We have a new Call (everyone wave hello to Aaron), and a new director (wave hello to James). So now everything should be in place to start filming again. W00T!

So stay tuned for more updates from the front lines. So to speak.

will the real sera york please stand up?

I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge someone who helped out a great deal with this project. Despite Miranda's keenness and enthusiasm, she was not our first Sera. That honour belonged to Kat. Unfortunately, she had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts, and we miss having her around. She was involved almost from day one, and really helped to develop Sera into the character that she is today.

Cheers Kat! And hey, I'm no longer the shortest person on the crew!
