computer meltdown

Well, all that rendering has taken its toll on my poor computer. The graphics card blew yesterday. It's quite amazing to watch your computer have a brain bleed right there in front of you. So, effects production is in limbo until a new logic board and graphics card can be shipped here and installed.

Yeah, I do have applecare. It expires in october, so it's lucky that this happened now rather than later. But they take the old parts away for analysis, so I'm afraid the guts of my laptop will not be adorning the set :P

And now after saying this...

That's a shame. I guess I've just been super lucky. I'm always encoding stuff for my psp in large batches, and haven't had a problem. Damnit, I need my Buffy, Angel, Firefly, and Veronica Mars on my PSP. 2 months straight of encoding be damned

yeah, this is not a case of wear and tear

Yeah, this isn't a matter of running the computer too long, after all, the computer's only 2 years old. The card was defective, and its failure was a random event.
