Nathan Fillion supports "Into the Black"

No, that’s not just a catchy title to grab your attention.

Friday night found me and some friends going out to the bar to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. When I went to meet them, we had to wait because one of my friends said “We have to wait for my buddy, he’s coming to meet us.” Which was quickly followed by “Oh, and you might be a little star struck.” Now, I’ve worked in the film business for 10 years, and have worked with some big stars, and I don’t tend to get star struck very easily. I asked who it was, and he said “My friend Nathan.” At which point I turn, and see Nathan Fillion walking down the street towards us. To say the least, I was a little shocked. Introductions were made all around, and when my friend introduced me to Nathan, he said I was a big Serenity fan, and I shook Nathan’s hand, telling him I was a huge Browncoat…to which Nathan responded by indicating the brown jacket he was wearing, and said “Funny enough, so am I.”

As the evening went on, I was fortunate to spend a great deal of time talking with Nathan, who is a very funny, warm and gracious guy. He was more than happy to talk at length about Firefly and Serenity, telling me I’d have to stop him, as he’d talk himself blue in the face about it.

During the Firefly talk, I broached the subject of Into the Black with him. He said he’d heard of us, but wasn’t that familiar with what we were doing. So I told him a little about it, and he seemed very interested, and asked a number of questions. He then asked how we were financing the project, and I told him it was basically all out of pocket for those involved. We were each donating our time, and materials, and paying for everything ourselves. Nathan then reached into his pocket, pulled out his wallet, and placed a very generous donation into my hand. After thanking him profusely, I told him I’d of course be telling the people involved where the money came from, but asked if he wanted it to remain anonymous to the general public, because I knew we’d all want to splash it up on the front page of the website. Nathan’s response – “Go for it.”

So, on behalf of the cast and crew of Into the Black, I want to extend a Big Damn Thank You! to Nathan Fillion for his overwhelming gesture of support. You made a number of people very happy today… a few of them even had to sit down (some faster than others), and I hope we do you proud.

You rocketh

Um, I think the subject title pretty much sums it up.

I'm amused how the filters turned d.a.m.n in my Big D.a.m.n Thank You, into gorram :)

Good, they're working!

Good, they're working!

If anyone tries to swear 'round these parts, it should get turned into Chinese.

(But "Damn" should be okay, I fix. ^ ^)

freaking awesome... my hearts still all a flutter

Wow

I didn't think my love for this man could grow anymore, and then he goes and does something mind bogglingly awesome like that. Oh, Nathan, you are so beyond awesome. *flail*

Part of Firefly ~ the Virtual Season two

nathan...nathan...nathan...

Hey Nathan! Thanks for the *generous* donation, whatever that may mean...I really hope he wasn't just drunk...

I am still kind-of mad about the hole Nathan thing. I went to Fangoria (in Chicago) a few weeks ago and I was the next person after the cut off for autographs/meeting him... so... yea.

"someone ever tries to kill you, you try and kill em' right back."

Nathan's donation

Nope, this was a bonafide offer of support from Nathan, In his own words, Firefly is something he passionate about. I just think he was glad to see others share in that passion, and want to play in his world.

Oh my...

My two captains in the room together...chatting Firefly. What I wouldn't pay to be a fly on the wall that night. I think I'd just be too scared to speak.

Troy, you truly are awesome.

Nathan: Every day I am more and more impressed with what you do. I am honored to be a witness to your accomplishments and your generosity. I simply cannot wait to meet you come June, even if it is only for a few seconds.

Captain Tightpants and Captain Cowlick. What a team!

Gorram!

I hate horror movies. Because of that, I'm going to see Slither. And WHiter Noisier. Everything I hear or read from Nathan says one thing:

Class Act, man, Class Act.

I'd have to agree with you

I'd have to agree with you StA. BTW, did you get my interview questions?

Wow

So... what comes after love? Because if I thought I loved Nathan before reading this...

He's so great. All my friends who have become fans of Firefly and Serenity think he's awesome.

Him donating money to Into the Black was so generous. And I'm sure you'll put that donation to very good use.

Yes, Jon

Got your questions. I'd like to get Kitty's (hint, hint) and a few others, but the article is shaping up nicely. I'm approaching Wired and a few other outfits, but I might split it up into a few different versions and spread it around for maximum exposure.

Cool

Cool

yay nathan!

Quick question, do you have anything set up to take donations? like paypal or something? Not that I can really afford much, but if I could, I'd send you my 10 bucks, and I bet a lot of other people would too.

Oh, and a big thanks to Nathan for being so generous. So few who can afford to be are.

Any and all donations should

Any and all donations should be referred to either Damien, me, or Laura.

Donations

We weren't really going to talk about donations, until we had episode one in the bag, and ya'll can decide whether or not we suck! Still, accepting cashy money is generally not a great idea when you're trying to stay non-profit.

I then have a suggestion.

I then have a suggestion. How about a gift registry for props, costumes, materials, equipment etc. And a shipping address where we could have things sent. I've seen some interesting airsoft guns I could afford and such...

You could easily set it up on the site, with links to the specific items on your wish list.

how about it?

Nathan

I think it is awesome that he supports this project and I like him more and more because he seems to be so friendly and open. He is really a "Star" and deserves that title more than some so called "Stars" out there.

Nice..
