NEW VIDEO: Into the Black Christmas Special

Well, this is our present to you this merry holiday season.

It's the Into the Black Christmas Special.
Using a quick script written by Damien, we met up and filmed this one evening for your viewing pleasure, working until 3 AM to get it done. Damien directed, MatthewC shot and edited, Sammy provided emotional support and Sera added a much needed feminine touch to the ship. The Captain, well, he was in his bunk. For such a short unplanned project, it turned out quite excellent.

That was really great

I've been watching the site for a few weeks now, but that was cool enough that I had to register and start posting. I'm really thrilled that this is happening, that somebody somewhere is making this for all the fans that wish their boxed sets had about 20 more discs in them...

I think this clip really shows promise in two major areas that so many shows these days are missing: inspired writing and elbow grease. Lots of little details like the quality of the set (and the timing of the release) show the kind of effort that this team is putting forth. The dialogue speaks for itself.

I'd really like to see more short clips like this one. Little pieces of action, not necessarily related to any particular story arc, just people chatting in a room to help us get to know our characters. Another trailer with more complete sound and visual effects (and something to really show off that beautiful ship in motion) would be even better.

Anyway, thanks again for putting this out there for the fans to gobble up. We really, really appreciate it.

ITB Christmas

The fans have been so great to us. For the most part, everyone has been really supportive, and excited. This was an effort to give a little something back.

It literally grew out of an off-hand joke Damien made during a recent filming session about shooting an Into the Black Christmas (we had a LOT of snow that day). A few of us thought "Why not?", picked up the ball and ran with it.

We gathered together on the evening of Dec. 13th, and spent 5 hours filming this short script that Damien had banged out, from some ideas we floated at a meeting the previous week.

This has also been an effort to let the fans know that their faith in us isn't misplaced. We are making progress, but we're aware it's been slow going. We wanted to give you all something that was fun, and a nice Christmas card to everyone, while whetting your appetites for the main event - and saying thanks for sticking with us.

Damien and I have talked about possibly doing more of these little vignettes, as they're fairly quick and easy, and can pretty much be shot in a day. So you never know, we may bring you some more in the future.
